Description
Vasilissa the Beautiful. Orphaned by her mother, her father remarries a woman who already has two daughters. Like the more familiar Cinderella, the beautiful Vasilissa suffers humiliation and mistreatment from her stepmother and stepsisters. She is forced to do the hardest work, and her life is even deliberately put in danger out of envy and malice. However, Vasilissa has a secret that she always keeps to herself. Before she died, her mother left her a wooden doll that will always protect her. And when she feels lonely, discouraged, and in need of anything, she only has to feed the doll, which will come to her rescue or comfort her, lifting Vasilissa's heart from every worry. Thus, all the suffering that the three women try to inflict on her
Passing by had no effect: from hard work in the fields to dangerous missions in the woods that put her life at risk. The doll carried out every kind of work in place of the girl, preserving her life and her beauty.
Vasilissa also survives her encounter with the witch Beba Yega, who sends her away with the intention of killing her. At the end of her adventures, Vasilisa arrives at the Tsar's court, who falls in love with her and marries her. And this is how Alexandr shows her to us: regal, austere, proud. In the depths of her gaze lie her story and her secret, never revealed to anyone, not even the Tsar.
Beauty and royalty are enhanced and emphasized by the choice of gold set against a sapphire background that outlines and defines the girl's feminine curves.
The blue sapphire is considered a symbol of wisdom and royalty. Eastern philosophies associate it with the throat and third eye chakras, the highest expression of the self. A gemstone that has always been loved by kings and queens, it is a precious stone symbolizing royalty for Persians, Greeks, and Romans, right up to the most recent English monarchy. It is associated with royalty in the religious and epic literature of every nation: from the Bible to Solomon, from Helen of Troy to Catherine the Great.
