Description
Goddess of Love and Beauty
Framing and connecting the scene is a painting of Lada, goddess of love and beauty, in a triumph of bright colors. Protector of fertility, in Slavic mythology she is associated with the sun.
Rain and warm summer nights. All elements conducive to encouraging love, from romantic love to passionate love to love that, like the sun, is the source of life. Alexandr departs from the traditional iconography that sees Lada's garments linked to nature, plants, and animals, offering us instead a model that aims to exalt her figure as a confident and strong woman, sweet and severe. The common thread running through Bugiardi's paintings is undoubtedly love, not physical, not carnal. Love linked to childhood and to one's own history, to what has been handed down and told to Alexandr and, of this, what has remained impressed on him like fire in his mind.
